About the Role

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join a collaborative product team responsible for maintaining and improving a large-scale HR and Payroll platform.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring product quality by owning test strategy, designing and executing comprehensive test plans, and working closely with developers and product teams to deliver stable, high-performing releases.
This is a long-term opportunity for someone who takes pride in precision, structure, and technical curiosity — ensuring every release meets the highest standards of reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Planning – Define and own test strategy and system documentation; derive detailed test cases from user stories, acceptance criteria, and system architecture.
  • Testing Execution – Plan and execute functional, regression, exploratory, cross-browser, and mobile tests across the product suite, including web portals, APIs, and mobile applications.
  • API Testing – Conduct API validation and integration testing to ensure consistent and reliable backend communication.
  • Data Validation – Use SQL to verify data integrity and validate backend transactions.
  • Defect Management – Log, triage, and track issues using GitHub (or equivalent tools), verify fixes, and contribute to release readiness.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Work closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement – Contribute to automation opportunities, maintain test data, and help optimise QA processes within the pod.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in manual and functional testing across web and API layers.
  • Proven hands-on experience with API testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Postman, Swagger, or similar).
  • SQL (3+ years) – strong ability to query databases for test validation and data integrity checks.
  • Experience with test case design, regression testing, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser testing and mobile validation for responsive applications.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and QA best practices.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright).
  • Experience working in agile, product-focused teams.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD integration and continuous testing pipelines.
  • Experience testing integrations with collaboration tools (e.g., Teams or Zoom).

Benefits

  • Fixed Shifts: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM IST (Winter)
  • No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just words
  • Day 1 Benefits: Laptop and full medical insurance provided
  • Support That Matters:Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are shared
  • True Belonging: A long-term career where your contributions are valued
At Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.
Be a Smart Worker — valued, empowered, and part of a culture that celebrates integrity, excellence, and ambition.
If that sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear your story.
