Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments for marine projects (e.g., ports, dredging, coastal developments) in compliance with UAE and international regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and propose mitigation measures for environmental risks.
  • Monitor and manage the impact of marine construction activities on ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangroves, and marine fauna.
  • Develop and implement biodiversity conservation plans.
  • Ensure projects meet UAE environmental regulations and standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary environmental permits.
  • Conduct water and sediment quality testing before, during, and after marine construction.
  • Develop strategies to minimize pollution and sedimentation impacts.
  • Oversee the management of waste generated from marine construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE's waste disposal and recycling regulations.
  • Develop and execute monitoring programs for air, water, and noise pollution.
  • Provide real-time data and recommendations to minimize environmental disruptions.
  • Integrate sustainable practices into marine project designs.
  • Assess climate change impacts on coastal projects and recommend adaptive measures.
  • Prepare environmental management plans (EMP) and compliance reports.
  • Document findings and provide recommendations for environmental improvements.
Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience in marine environmental engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in UAE
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Marine Science, or related disciplines.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science or Coastal Engineering is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in environmental modeling tools and software (e.g., MIKE21, Delft3D).
  • Strong knowledge of UAE and international environmental regulations and standards.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for environmental impact mitigation
