Job Summary:
**UP TO $20,000 SIGN ON BONUS FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES**
The CT Technologist is responsible for conducting Computed Tomography scans at a Level II trauma hospital while being supervised by a Radiologist. It is essential for the technologist to be able to select the appropriate exam for the Radiologist to interpret and to effectively use all CT machinery in the suitable conditions. This position involves interacting with patients of different age ranges, such as children, seniors, patients with fever, and those in critical condition, and adjusting procedures and positioning as necessary to achieve the best possible imaging outcomes.
The CT Technologist at a Level II hospital must cater to the diverse needs of patients, including those from outpatient, inpatient, and emergency departments, handling a variety of cases such as ambulatory, non-ambulatory, acutely and chronically ill, as well as trauma and stroke patients. Responsibilities encompass tasks like setting up examination rooms, transferring patients, inputting exam details into the Radiology Information System, arranging CT scans, educating patients on exam preparations, ensuring accuracy of orders and documents for records and billing, and liaising with medical personnel when required. Proficiency in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is essential, and the technologist must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as stipulated by departmental management. Furthermore, any issues with equipment functioning should be promptly reported to the immediate supervisor, maintenance team, or bio-medical services for timely resolution, and strict adherence to established protocols and guidelines of the Medical Imaging Department, the facility, and the organization is mandatory.

Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of patient positioning, CT radiation exposure principles, quality assurance, image processing, and specialized protocols in a Level II trauma center environment, encompassing procedures such as TAVR, perfusion studies, Cardiac CTA, AFIB angiograms, and intricate trauma scenarios and angiograms. Shows proficiency in patient prioritization and effective planning of tasks while supporting physicians during procedures and fostering a conducive learning atmosphere.

- Verifies that the billing process accurately reflects the procedure and associated resources.
- Assesses the patient's status, medical background, and doctor's instructions before communicating with the radiologist if clarification is needed. Identifies the appropriate posture and chooses the accurate patient from the roster.
- Provides top-notch images to radiologists for examination.
- Consistently readies the patient and equipment for the forthcoming procedure. Informs the patient and/or their family about the upcoming medical process. Delivers expert and tailored care based on the patient's age group.
- Effectively operates necessary computer applications (such as PACs, RIS, Vrad) alongside following manual downtime procedures.
- Additional tasks may be required.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
Graduate - Radiology Program
Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; (ARRT)(R) (CT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in Cat Scan or completion of CT Registry within 12 months of hire.
Regarding BLS certification:
The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.
Preferred:
Education - Associates: Related Field
Experience - 1+ years of Customer Service Experience; 1+ years of Radiographer Experience
**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.
Physical Requirements:
Very heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
